It's my game console, my organizer, my drug bible, my networking device, my mp3 player, my video player and many more. I won't leave home without it. The downside of it was it's an apple product. Restricted to iTunes and Apple store for app and a whole lot more strings attach to the apple company. I have no freedom on how I want my iPod to function. Take for example, iTunes only transfer all the files from the computer to the iPod device. If you want it to go the other way round, there's no way iTunes can do that for you.
Having sync my iPod to a friend computer, my iPod was loaded with 10gb of new songs. I wanted to transfer all this new songs to my computer as a backup in case I decided to sync my iPod to my computer and render the playlist. I tried to open my ipod as an removable disk in my computer, to my horror I can't detect it. Only by using iTunes my computer can be connected to the iPod.

I googled for applications to enable me to transfer my files. I stumbled on diskaid. Actually it has a step by step video on youtube. Downloaded the trial version which only limit me a 10 song transfer before I have to purchase it. Not good for me as I had 2000 songs to transfer.

Next I found copytrans 4. It stated free. Without hesitation I downloaded it and later only to find that there's a limit of 100 songs transfer. If I want to continue to transfer further, I will need to purchase it.

Frustrated with all this purchasing, I log on to download.com. One thing I love about the site was all the application detail on if it is free or there's a need to buy are stated beside the application itself. Happily i scrolled down the list of mp3 application and I stumbled upon sharepod. A freeware it is. Tested it and finally all my 2000 songs are safely stored in my computer. Sharepod indeed is a great application. Simple, easy and most importantly it's free.
