Christmas day indulgence. Cooked up a christmas dinner this year and finished it off with these. Rose wine and desserts of cointreau melted with chococoffee top with raspberry ice cream and cranberry sauce. Thinking hard on what to 'chef' for this chinese new year.
I first came to know of rose wine when i was back in UK. I've tasted a few variations of wines and i can't say i am a wine expert but through my humble experiences i know a thing or two. The first wine that i tasted was a red wine, Merlot to be precise. It had a dry after taste that i don't like. I was puzzled of how people could enjoy a drink with such horrible after taste. Some red wines could sell at a very high price. I for one wouldn't waste my money on such a drink that i don't enjoy. I didn't give up on red wine on the first time because i thought there were better selections out there and the one i had tasted was just wrong for me. Again i had that dry, bitter, woody after taste when i was offered an expensive one. That's was it. I totally gave up on red wine. Then looking at all the wine selections, i saw white wine. Tried it and it was sweet. Still have the after taste but definitely better than red wine. Not enough to convince me to become a wine drinker. Then i purchased a bottle of rose wine from Mark and Spencer just because of it's attractive red colour. No dry after taste, love the colour and better still it's sweet. I love it. After trying on all sort of wines, some i like, some i don't and i found out that in wine selection, it depends on personal preference. Nowadays i prefer port more than rose wine.
